The American educational systems is lacking diversity in educators and community leaders. This is important because we know diversity in education shatters barriers, promotes "wholeness", fosters unity, and enhances the experience of the rising scholar. In knowing the benefits of diverse education, it would be remiss to ignore deterrents like: "teacher burnout", lack of district support in mental health resources, and the inability to take personal time. "Hustle culture" has seeped into education and it is unfair and unfortunate for our future generations. That said, the solution is a simple one; The Centered Soul.
The Centered Soul is an initiative to support BIPOC educators in Connecticut and Western Massachusetts. Our focus will be in Hartford, Hampden, and Hampshire counties, with the potential to branch out in the future.. We will use our resources, knowledge, and energetically trained hands to support educators and school officials in the black, indigenous, and person of color communities. We believe once the educator knows the importance of centering their own soul first, the drive to help others will increase. This is the classic "fill your cup and pour into others from the overflow" solution.
Our outreach includes: discounted and free wellness services such as: Intuitive Energy Healing, Massage Therapy, Yoga Therapy, Lymphatic Drainage, Crystal Healing, and Wellness Consultations offered at any of our locations. Self-care focused professional development workshops. We will reinforce wellness by handing out "swag bags" full of holistic products for the body and the home.
Local schools/districts can be rest assured in knowing that The Centered Soul Initiative works to create a better work/life balance for BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA+ educators who find it difficult to stay motivated during teacher shortages, wage inequities, and unionized strikes.
Center the mind, center the body, center the soul, and the rest will flow.
As we cautiously roll out this initiative (so as not to inadvertently create our own burnout), we will keep our community updated here.
